ECHO's legislative advocacy program serves the specific needs of board members and homeowners in California common interest developments. While educating CID owners about the requirements of California law is an important part of our mission, we also work to educate government officials about the needs of California CIDs. Because rapid changes in the law make it impossible for homeowners to learn their legal responsibilities, ECHO helps lawmakers understand the importance of simplifying and strengthening CID law in California.
Looking Back
2010 was an unusually light year for common interest development legislation, and only three of the bills on ECHO's watch list became law. Several of the most objectionable bills died in committee or received a veto. ECHO Members should consult the January and February editions of the ECHO Journal for complete summaries of new 2010 legislation and case law.
What's New
In this 2010-2011 Legislative Session, ECHO is actively working on 13 new bills and monitoring several more. Get the latest developments on all CID legislation by watching our Legislation at a Glimpse page.
